Interpret common analytics metrics without assuming every platform defines them identically.

What to know

Impressions

Counts opportunities for content to be displayed. The same person can contribute more than one impression.

Reach

Usually estimates unique accounts or people exposed to content, where the platform supplies it.

Engagement

Combines supported interactions such as reactions, comments, shares, saves, or clicks. Included actions can vary by platform.

Views

Represents platform-defined content or video views. View thresholds and replay treatment are not universal.

Compare like with like

Use the same metric, platform scope, and date range when comparing content or periods.

Metrics are interpreted in their platform and reporting context.

If something goes wrong

  • Expect some totals to differ from the native platform because of refresh timing, attribution, and metric definitions.
