Sequence vs Later: visual planning, client review and pricing
Compare Sequence and Later Social for visual planning, client approvals and pricing, including social sets, extra users and paid reporting.

Later Social is worth trying if visual planning, a media library and finding good publishing times are central to your week. Sequence is worth trying if coordinating the creative work and client decisions is the harder part. Later also offers approvals and an inbox, so this choice is about how your team works and which plan covers it.
Choose the workflow your team actually uses
Suppose you're planning a visual campaign for a client. You have a folder of photos, several Reels and a launch date. The team needs to see how the content fits together, decide what to publish and get the client's feedback before anything goes out.
Later's visual planner and media tools are worth testing for that job. Sequence is worth testing for the handovers around it: who owns the post, what the designer needs to change and whether the client has approved the result.
This article covers Later Social, the social media management product. Later's influencer marketing services and creator programmes are separate offerings. We're the Sequence team, and competitor details here are based on Later's official pages.
Where Later is a natural fit
If you spend much of your week selecting and arranging visual content, try Later with a real campaign folder. Its visual calendar, media library and publishing-time suggestions may fit the way you already prepare a schedule.
Later isn't limited to solo scheduling. Growth includes internal and external approvals, an inbox and tools for collecting user-generated content. Scale adds more detailed reporting, including custom analytics and Meta Ads Analytics.
That makes the comparison more interesting than “Later schedules, Sequence collaborates”. Both can support a team. The useful test is whether the people preparing and reviewing the campaign can move through it without losing context.
What a social set means for your clients
Later groups accounts into social sets. Each set allows one profile from each supported network: Instagram, Facebook, Threads, Pinterest, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube and Snapchat.
That is different from a pool of interchangeable account slots. Three clients that each need an Instagram profile require three sets, even if you aren't using every other network. A brand with two Instagram profiles also needs enough sets to cover both.
Access Groups help organise social sets and control access to media and calendars. Bring your actual account list into the trial so you can check both the grouping and what each reviewer can see.
Where Sequence may fit better
If the visual calendar is already easy to arrange but the work keeps stalling in review, start there. Take a video that needs a media correction and a caption change. Ask the designer and client to work through it in Sequence.
Pro keeps planning, media review, approvals and publishing together, and includes inbox and organic/ads analytics. It also includes unlimited team members and scheduled posts. That can be useful when several people need to take part or your publishing volume changes from month to month.
The lower price isn't a foregone conclusion. Later can cost less for some teams, particularly on annual billing. Compare the workflow, account mix and reporting requirements alongside the total.

Three brands and three people
Assume each brand has five accounts on five different supported networks. Sequence Pro costs US$69/month or US$690/year for the three brands.
Later Growth needs one additional social set and one additional user: US$50 + US$15 + US$5 = US$70/month. With annual billing, the equivalent is US$52.50/month, or US$630/year. Later costs US$60 less per year in this example.
The plans aren't identical. Later Growth allows 180 posts per profile each month and doesn't include Scale's custom or Meta Ads analytics. Sequence Pro includes unlimited scheduled posts and organic/ads analytics. Later's three sets also leave room for more networks within each set than the five accounts per brand used here.
If Meta Ads Analytics is a requirement, Later Scale is US$110/month or US$990/year, and includes six sets and four users. That is a larger allowance than this team needs. Extra Sequence storage and AI credit top-ups cost separately.
Let a real campaign settle the choice
Use a small campaign with a video, a carousel and a post that needs client sign-off. Check the preview, make a revision and see how clearly the final approval reaches the person publishing.
Then check the actual networks, formats and reports you need. In particular, make sure your social sets match the accounts you manage; spare slots for one network won't solve a shortage on another.
If Later's visual planning tools fit your day and its allowances cover the work, it may be a good choice. If review and coordination take more effort than scheduling, try the same campaign in Sequence with the people who will use it.
