Sequence vs Metricool: what the price difference actually buys

Metricool costs less than Sequence for most agencies. Compare what each tool is built for, where the saving makes sense, and three setups priced in USD.

Metricool is cheaper than Sequence for most setups, and for a growing agency the gap can be large. If your team mostly schedules finished posts and reports on them, that saving is hard to argue with. Sequence earns its price when most of the effort happens before a post is ready: the brief, the script, the edit, the feedback and the client's sign-off.

The short answer

Choose Metricool if you want strong analytics and reporting across a lot of brands for a low monthly price, and your posts arrive mostly finished. Competitor tracking, Looker Studio, link-in-bio pages and a longer list of networks come with it.

Choose Sequence if your team makes the content together and the hard part is keeping it moving: who's scripting, what's in the edit, what the client asked to change and what's ready to go. Sequence keeps each post's plan, media, feedback, approval and publishing in one record.

We build Sequence. Metricool facts below come from its official pricing and product pages, checked on 30 September 2026.

What each tool is built around

Metricool leads with measurement. Paid plans keep unlimited analytics history, Starter tracks up to 100 competitor profiles and exports PDF and PowerPoint reports, and Advanced adds custom report templates and a Looker Studio connector. Metricool Studio builds an AI report from a written question and shares it as a live link.

Sequence starts before the post exists. Each post carries its plan, script, captions, media and comments. On Pro, it moves through statuses you set for your own process, such as Scripting, Filming, Rough cut and Final cut. Scheduling, the inbox and analytics are there too, but the product is organised around getting work made and approved.

Where Metricool is the better choice

  • Price at scale. Advanced covers up to 15 brands for US$67/month, or 25 brands for US$107/month, on monthly billing. Sequence Pro is priced per brand, so the same counts cost US$284 and US$449.
  • Competitor research. Metricool analyses up to 100 competitor profiles from Starter and has hashtag tools. Sequence doesn't offer competitor analytics.
  • More networks. Metricool also connects Bluesky, Google Business Profile and Twitch, and measures your website. Sequence publishes to eight networks: Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok, Threads, X and Pinterest. On Metricool, LinkedIn needs a paid plan and X is an add-on at US$10/month per connected account.
  • Extras around publishing. SmartLinks for link-in-bio pages, autolists for recurring content, Flows for comment-to-DM automations (listed at no extra cost for a limited time), and TikTok Ads alongside Facebook and Google Ads.
  • A generous free plan. One brand, 20 posts a month, 30 days of analytics and the Metricool MCP, though without LinkedIn or X. Sequence Free covers one brand, one connected account and five scheduled posts.

Where Sequence earns its price

  • A plan on every post. Briefs, scripts and captions live on the post, so the editor, the account manager and the client read the same version. Sequence AI can draft them from the brand's Brand Brain: its voice, audience, offers and guardrails.
  • Your own production stages. Custom statuses on Pro follow your own process, and the planner shows them as a board, list, calendar, timeline, gallery or grid. Metricool's planner tracks publishing state: pending, approved, rejected or scheduled.
  • Feedback on the media. Reviewers comment on the video or image itself on both plans, and on Pro the approval sits on the same post, so feedback and sign-off don't drift apart.
  • The whole team from the first brand. Pro includes unlimited team members, clients and approvers at every brand count. Metricool's team and client access starts on Advanced.
  • Room inside each brand. Each Sequence brand includes five connected accounts. A Metricool brand holds one profile per network, so a client with two Instagram accounts takes two brands.
  • Inspiration that feeds the plan. Save posts to the Inspiration library and get a breakdown of why they work: five a month on Free, unlimited on Pro.
  • Connections for agency teams. Pro adds Slack notifications for approvals and publishing, webhooks, an API and an MCP connection for Claude, ChatGPT and Codex (the MCP and API are in beta). Metricool includes its MCP on every plan and adds its API, Zapier and Make on Advanced.

A small agency: three brands, four staff, clients approve

Sequence Pro for three brands is US$69/month, or US$690/year. It covers 15 connected accounts, the whole team and the clients who approve.

Metricool needs Advanced for team access and post approvals. That's US$67/month, or US$53/month billed annually (US$636/year), and it covers up to 15 brands. At this size the two cost about the same, and Metricool leaves room to add brands without paying more.

A growing agency: twelve brands

Sequence Pro for twelve brands is US$233/month. Metricool Advanced still covers it at US$67/month, roughly a 3.5 times difference. That's the strongest reason to choose Metricool.

If those twelve brands mostly need scheduling and reporting, the saving is real. If each one runs scripts, edits and client sign-off, add up what that process costs today across your planning doc, review tool and scheduler before comparing.

A solo manager: five brands, no team

Metricool Starter covers five brands for US$25/month, or US$20/month billed annually, without team access or approvals. Sequence Pro for five brands is US$109/month. If you work alone and don't need client sign-off inside the tool, Metricool is the better-value choice.

Four questions before you choose

  • Who touches a post before it's scheduled? If one person writes and schedules, Metricool covers it. If a strategist, an editor, an account manager and a client all touch it, test that chain in Sequence.
  • What do your clients ask you for most? Reports and competitor context point to Metricool. "What's coming, and what do you need from me?" points to Sequence's shared planner and approvals.
  • Where do your team's hours go? Hours spent building reports favour Metricool. Hours spent chasing feedback and finding the latest version favour Sequence.
  • Could you split the jobs? You can plan, review, approve and publish in Sequence and keep a Metricool plan for competitor benchmarking or link-in-bio pages. Publish from one tool only, so posts aren't scheduled twice.

Run one client's month through Sequence

If Metricool's reporting covers what your clients want and your posts arrive finished, it's a strong, affordable choice. If the work before scheduling is where your weeks go, start the 14-day Sequence Pro trial with one client brand and take a real month of content from brief to approval to publish.
